The Event: You already know that your co-workers are capable of rising to all sorts of lofty challenges. But creating an entire sushi meal? Yes, it can be done, and in a fashion that brings people together in a delightful departure from the day-to-day dynamics of the workplace. In this sense, sushi makes a healthy meal in more ways than one.
An expert sushi chef will guide the entire group through the preparation of this seven-part extravaganza, so absolutely no experience is required. Even if you don’t know a hangiri from a color copier, Teambonding will insure that your final product is worth the effort.
We begin with a brief introduction and overview. This is where we explain the goals of your event, then provide some basic instruction on equipment use and safety, along with any “rules” that may apply as teams are trying to reach the goals.
Next, we’ll move to an icebreaker game designed specifically to warm up the crowd and get everyone in the spirit of the day. At this point, we assemble your group into five-person teams. We’ll be happy to divide up the teams, or if you prefer, you’re welcome to create your own teams. Group people according to company departments, sales regions, or any other approach that makes sense within your company’s culture. Allowing each team to name itself adds a nice touch.
Now it’s time to dive in and begin creating your sushi masterpieces! Delicacies “of the day” include Green Tea, Clear Soup, Sushi Rice, Box Sushi, Wrapping Sushi, Rolled Sushi and Hand Roll, with beautifully cut fruit as dessert. Final meal assembly and presentation lead to the big moment when each team enjoys feasting on their handiwork.
Every Team Sushi experience also includes:
- The proper use and care of Sushi tools
- Sushi making techniques and safe food handling
- Creative presentation techniques
- A resource guide to help you continue to make sushi on your own and with friends
As with all Teambonding programs, Team Sushi is highly customizable. If you desire, we can take care of all initial prep work in advance, adding an element of instant gratification to the whole affair. It’s also easy to work any desired company theme into the introduction and optional debrief. Depending on the overall tone you’d like to create, we can spice things up with spontaneous Sake-Bombs (alcoholic drink) throughout the event.
Team Sushi is a great way to finish up a day of meetings. It can also be easily woven into a conference schedule, either as a lunch or dinner event. Let us know how we can help!
Training Module or De-Brief: We can easily include optional training or debriefing which focuses on teamwork, creativity or whatever subject you suggest.
Minimum/Maximum Group Size: Team Sushi works really well when participants work in teams of five. We can comfortably accommodate one or two teams, or as many as your program calls for. If you prefer to have everyone work as a single team, we can accommodate that as well.
Program Length: This varies according to your needs. A 4 ½ hour event includes all rice cooking and fish & vegetable prep work .We’re happy to do a portion of this in advance to shorten the event by 1 hour.
Space Requirements: Any room large enough (and with enough tables) to accommodate your group will do nicely. Access to stovetop are a plus, but not required. On the day of your event, teambonding will assess the workspace, make any necessary alterations, and begin set up.
By the way, for the curious, the hangiri is a rice mixing tub.
